Mr. Covington, Of Counsel to the firm, has extensive experience in the tax field including the handling of IRS controversies and litigation in the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. District Courts. This experience includes tax compliance as well as income, estate and gift tax planning for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts and exempt organizations. His specialization includes both tax and commercial real estate and has included syndications and private placements. Additionally, he has provided representation in connection with the structuring of ownership of oil refineries and domestic and international construction projects and joint ventures. Mr. Covington received his B.A. from the University of Texas (1963), his Certified Public Accounting Certificate in 1965, and his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center (1969). He is a member of the Houston Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas. He was Board Certified in Tax Law from 1983-2008 and maintained Commercial Real Estate Law certification from 1984-2004.
